Grover's story is an unfortunate one. He was originally purchased and was in training to become a service dog. Sadly, he became reactive to other dogs and was eventually surrendered to the Camden County shelter.
It is very apparent that time was invested into his training. Grover is well versed in his commands and is very anxious to please. He will bond very quickly and is a dog that actively looks for leadership. He is very friendly with people but due to his reactiveness to other animals, he will need to be the only animal in the home.
Grover loves to play, but is a bit possessive with his toys where it is the only thing he fixated on. Our volunteers have been working diligently on eye contact training and introducing a "toy" protocol which will helped him take the necessary corrections to modify this behavior. His behavior has improved but due to this issue, we are recommending a home with no young children.
Grover will need an experienced handler to continue his training. He is a sweet boy who deserves a chance with the right family.
