A Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary Dog
This is a courtesy cross post Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary. THIS IS NOT A GSRNJ DOG. All questions regarding this dog should be directed to Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary.
Taeko means “Brave” in Japanese and Taeko is the Braveheart of Sedona Shepherd. This little guy is about 5 months old and was turned into a scary city shelter all by himself. When we saw him in the shelter kennel, he was anxious to get out and be with people. Although Sedona generally focuses on adult and senior German Shepherds, we wanted to make sure that Taeko did not end up in another home that could not handle him.
If you are interested in possibly adopting Taeko, you must meet the following requirements. Please do not fill out an application if you do not, as we will not process it.
TAEKO ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS
Taeko just loves to play, romp around and be with people. He has a few rough edges that we have been working on. He becomes very excited when first putting on a leash and wants to turn the leash into a chew toy. He also likes to grab shirt sleeves and when over excited can hump or be bitey (though not aggressively). Sedona volunteers have been giving Taeko the training and love he missed out on, and he is a happy boy with people. He quickly settles in nicely on walks.
It is apparent that Taeko was not socialized with other dogs at a young age and can be reactive around other dogs. We have taken Taeko on pack walks and once relaxed he respects his big guardian Trey. Despite the socializing, Taeko will probably not be good in a home with other dogs. He is not currently neutered and Sedona will adopt him out on a foster to adopt contract, where Sedona will cover the costs of neutering. There is about a two month wait list to be neutered with most veterinarians.
If you live in the following counties, Canine Dimensions will provide 3 free months of in-home dog training: Morris, Essex, Union, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, and parts of Warren County.
