Bindi

Age: 5 years old
Sex: Female
Size: Large
Leadership Experience: Experienced
Good With Dogs: No
Good With Cats: No
Good With Children: No
Bindi was an owner surrender to the Plainfield Animal Shelter.  The shelter staff desperately needed her out of the shelter environment and we were able to get her placed into an experienced foster home.

Since being with GSRNJ, our foster home has really gotten to know Bindi some more. At times Bindi can be a little unsure of new people. So she will need a strong leader to keep building her confidence. But once she gets comfortable, she will roll over for belly rubs and actively seek out attention.

Bindi would do best in a quiet home with an established routine. She doesn't have a problem being alone but is always happiest to see her people. She will wrap around you like a cat when you return home, or come home, or wake up!

Bindi has an understanding of basic commands and continues to work on them. She is great at walking on leash and she is housebroken. She is very playful, she likes her toys and will play fetch.  She is just as happy to lay at your feet as she is to go outside and play ball. For a German Shepherd she is relatively low energy, but she will look at you with her beautiful brown eyes and give a cute little "yip" when she wants to play!

While in the home, Bindi was introduced to other dogs. She is a bit uncertain on how to properly cohabitate with a pack and can easily get jealous and react. It is our recommendation that Bindi be placed as the only animal in the home.

Bindi would flourish in an adult only home or a home with adult children that has strong leadership experience to continue giving her the confidence and engagement she needs.
