Meet Chief -  A Handsome Strong German Shepherd – Your Next Best Friend

Chief is a 7 year old stunning Long Haired German Shepherd who came to us on 5/12/25 from a situation that he had no control of and needed a lot of TLC. Since his arrival Chief has warmed up to so many of our wonderful volunteers and has showed how he has the ability to befriend new people with the proper meet and greet (obviously on his terms). Although he does show displeasure when visiting the vet. Chief craves attention and can be very vocal when people pass him while he is in his kennel or outside run.

Chief has been temp tested, is house broken, crate trained, has learned to wear a muzzle, has no food aggression, takes treats gently from an open hand, loves to be groomed and brushed, loves chewing his Moose Antler, squeaking his kong tennis ball and playing fetch (although he doesn’t always bring it right back to you). He is a strong dog and does pull a lot (which we are working on) but when you stand your ground or just give him a slight tug he stops pulling.

Chief does not appear to be very sociable with other dogs and does have a high prey drive but he was raised with another large dog and 2 cats so if there was another dog in the house a number of meet and greets would be required but a cat free house is suggested.

Breed Experience is a requirement so if you qualify please come and see Chief. We feel that Chief is a wonderful K9 and with the continued proper training and TLC he will become a great companion for the proper person or family.

German Shepherds are not suited well for kennel or shelter life because they need a lot of exercise and are always looking for a job to do. Whether it be searching for his toy in the house, playing fetch or just running alongside of you in a field or hiking in the woods they love the challenges.

Please share Chief’s story so we can get this handsome boy a Loving Forever Home.
