If dogs could speak, our sweet Ellie would certainly have a story to share! Ellie was surrendered to the Jackson shelter after getting into a scuffle with the resident dog in her home. It was unclear who started the fight, but Ellie was blamed.

Ellie is very nervous with new people and takes some time to warm up to you. She will warm up quicker and is more at ease with women, then with men. We can't say for certain, but we believe this is because of past bad experiences.  Once she becomes comfortable with you, she will allow petting and takes treats very gently! 

Ellie's ideal home would be a quiet, adult only home that can work on building up her confidence with positive reinforcement. While she seemed to be indifferent towards other dogs and cats at the shelter, we recommend that she be the only animal just so that she can get the attention she needs.
