 Meet Kona – A Sweet, Shy Girl Looking for Her Second Chance

Kona is a gentle, loving dog who’s had a tough few months. She was surrendered to the shelter after her owner passed away. His daughter took Kona in and cared for her as long as she could, but due to personal health challenges, she made the difficult decision to find Kona a new home.
Kona was raised with teens and other dogs, and she’s a total sweetheart once she feels safe. She can be a little shy and anxious at first, but with a patient and calm environment, she warms up beautifully and bonds quickly. She absolutely loves being petted—it’s her favorite thing in the world (right after jerky treats!).

Some Fun Facts About Kona:

• 🧸 Favorite toy? Stuffed animals—forget balls and frisbees!
• 🦴 Favorite treat? Jerky. Biscuits? Not so much.
• 🐶 Dog-friendly? Yes! She’s calm around other dogs.
• 🐱 Cat-friendly? Not really. Due to her nervousness, she was quickly startled when the cats hissed at her. She just wanted to sniff them!
• 🧠 Commands? She knows "sit" and is treat-motivated—training will be fun!
• 🚶‍♀️ Leash skills? Still a work in progress.
• 👧 Best in a home with kids 10 and up, due to her anxiety.
