Hi, I'm Rex! I'm a 4-year-old German Shepherd with the cutest floppy ears and a tail that curls into a little loop whenever I'm happy (which is pretty often!).

I've been waiting for my forever home for over a year now, and while that's a long time, my friends at GSRNJ have made sure I'm surrounded by people who love me. I'm actually a volunteer favorite! They even threw me a birthday party when I turned 4—they made me cupcakes and sang "Happy Birthday" to me. I felt like the luckiest dog in the world... now I just need a family to celebrate all my future birthdays with.

I've learned so much during my time here. I used to have a hard time meeting new people, but I've worked really hard, and now I'm happy to make new friends—especially if they come bearing treats! (Seriously... treats are the fastest way to my heart.) I've also been doing an awesome job on my walks, calmly passing other dogs without reacting. Even in the kennel, with lots of barking all around me, I stay cool and collected.

When I'm not showing off my good manners, I'm just a fun-loving Shepherd. I love playing with my toys, splashing around in the kiddie pool or any water I can find, going for walks, and, of course, enjoying yummy snacks. Once I trust you, I'll be your most loyal companion.

I'm looking for a calm, experienced home where I can continue to thrive. I'd do best as your one and only pet (no cats, please!) in a home with adults or older teens and a quieter lifestyle. My perfect family will understand that I need a little time to settle in, but I promise I'm worth it.

I've spent over a year waiting for someone to choose me. The volunteers already know what a special boy I am—now I'm hoping the right person will see it too.
