Smokey, the social butterfly was in pretty rough shape when he first arrived but after gaining weight, some good food, grooming and lots of TLC from volunteers and his foster home, that is all in his past. Smokey is now ready for the next steps in his journey.
Smokey is currently in a foster home with another dog where he is learning to respect another dog's space. He loves to explore and make new friends. He can sometimes get a little too excited and will jump on his new friends but he is easily corrected. This guy just doesn't realize his size.
Like many Shepherds, Smokey is your typical velcro dog. You will never be able to use the bathroom or sleep by yourself, ever again. Due to a lack of training and early correction, Smokey still has some puppy-like qualities to him. Because of this and his energy level, we recommend a home with older children.
Smokey was surrendered to the shelter by his owners who were much older and not able to handle so much dog, nor were they able to properly care for him. Smokey is now ready for his furever home. Let's make that happen!
Smokey is up-to-date on his vaccines and neutered. This boy is a diamond in the rough and a great dog for almost any family! Don't wait too long because he will find his family sooner than later.
