Mission Statement
German Shepherd Rescue of New Jersey was founded to establish and run a rescue program to help German Shepherd dogs find permanent, healthy and loving homes. Additionally, we will educate adopters and the public on best practices for dog owners and the unique needs of having a German Shepherd dog as a member of your household.
About our Rescue Program
We refer to our rescue activities as a program. There are very in depth evaluations of both dogs and applicants looking to adopt or foster.
Before a dog is accepted into our program we conduct an extensive temperament test with the dog to see if it is shows aggression or displays many signals that they would become aggressive. For the safety of our members and adopters we do not accept any aggressive dogs into our program, which is the most difficult thing we must do at times. The dogs entering our rescue program may be from shelters, owner surrenders or owners in our Owner Rehoming Assistance Program.
Similarly, with our applicants there is a detailed application process for us to understand the applicant, their family and the environment they may provide for one of our dogs.
