Due to the high number of rehoming requests, our operations are currently slower than usual. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are doing everything we can to respond to requests as quickly as possible. Please bear with us during this time and know that we appreciate your patience and understanding. Rest assured, we remain committed to finding loving homes for german shepherds that are at risk and will continue to work diligently to facilitate all rehoming inquiries. Thank you for your continued support!
German Shepherd Rescue of New Jersey understands that sometimes dog owners must make the difficult decision to give up their dog because they will no longer be able to provide the care and home they want for their beloved family member. This is often due to financial hardship, relocation or divorce. Our concern is not why, but to provide an outlet other than leaving the dog at a shelter at the last minute. Therefore, GSRNJ offers an Owner Rehoming Assistance Program to help German Shepherd owners find a new home for their dog.
The dog must pass our evaluation exam. Once approved, we will then list the dog on our site and match them up with approved applicants from our Rescue Program. We simply ask that the owners keep the dog in their home, if circumstances allow, until we can find them a new family. This is less stressful for the dog to transition directly to their new permanent home versus adjusting to a foster home then again to the permanent one.
We require all Owner Referral dogs to be up-to-date on shots, including distemper and heart worm and proof will be required prior to listing. We do not take dogs into our Owner Rehoming Assistance Program that show aggression, have poor temperaments or have a known bite history. Should your dog not pass our evaluation exam, we can discuss other potential options with you.
